COLLECTOR OF THE QUARTER
Our collector of the quarter is going to be myself this month. Not that I like seeing myself on the net so much as I would like to introduce myself as I am the new President of the club and wanted to give you a little background on me.
I started collecting in the early 90's and I haven't stopped since! It began when my kids were small and I was fascinated with all of the toys that McDonald's produced throughout the years. I bought a book and a collector was born.... I started collecting every toy that McDonald's made and then through the book, found out that there were so many other things to collect such as plates, cups, boxes, etc.... My collection has reached the point where I have lost count but I think I am in the range of over 7,000 items.
My favorite items to collect are Archy McDonald, a short run of a character from the early 60's. The evil Grimace character which had 4 arms instead of the traditional 2 arms which was produced in the early 70's. And lastly, the Fraggle Rock test set that was produced mainly in just the West Virginia area as it is hard to find. I guess I wish I had every toy and box McDonald's ever produced but then that wouldn't be as much fun as collecting is all part of the fun.
Lastly, as President of the club, I think we are about to see a resurgence of collectors again as we did in the 90's. We have new members trickling in little by little and I can't wait to see what the future holds in store for our hobby and club. I hope as you're reading this your already a member. If not, I hope this convinces you to join in on all of the fun and our annual conventions we have yearly.
